Yahoo! has posted the following update concerning Reese and Ryan’s divorce:

Ryan Phillippe wants joint custody of his children with Reese Witherspoon.

Witherspoon filed for divorce on Nov. 8, citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the split, and she asked for physical custody of the acting couple’s two children — 7-year-old Ava and 3-year-old Deacon. In the Superior Court divorce petition, Witherspoon, 31, asked for visitation for Phillippe, 32, and “exclusive use of the family residence.”

In a response filed Tuesday, Phillippe also cited irreconcilable differences but asked for joint legal custody and physical custody of the children as well as visitation granted “to both parties, equally allocated.”

A telephone message left Thursday for Witherspoon publicist Nanci Ryder wasn’t immediately returned.

The documents filed with the court in November and this week do not list separate or community property, saying the nature of the assets has yet to be determined. Witherspoon’s petition requested that the court not grant any spousal support to Phillippe. There was no request for support in Phillippe’s petition.

Reese asked for sole physical custody when she filed for divorce, Ryans asking for joint physical custody, which is completely different to what reese requested when she filed. i love reese to death, but i will be extremely dissapointed if she doesnt agree with joint custody. as much as i adore reese, ryan deserves to be as involved as reese, hes as much their parent as she is. hopefully this will be peaceful and drama free and the joint custody will go through.

to clarify, TMZ is wrong, in saying she asked for joint custody.
she asked for joint legal custody (which is undeniable in this case, neither are mentally ill or unfit parents, both been legally responsible for the kids is something she cant really fight him on). more importantly, she also asked for sole physical custody of the children, with visitation for ryan, which is nowhere close to joint custody. joint custody is spending equal time with both parents, that isnt what reese asked for.

hopefully reese has changed her mind since she filed. because it would be cruel of reese to fight ryan on joint custody, they are both devoted parents.

I think whatever custody arrangement works for Reese & Ryan is really there business. It kinda angers me that so many sites like Yahoo have to report this news. Its no ones business but theirs.

That’s for sure, it’s their business.
must say ryan deserves the same equal custody for kids, they did great parenting, and will do.
Only wish the best for both of them and those gorgeous time, even though mixed with some sadness, still, they should never be forgotten.
