The Gene Siskel Film Center of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) proudly presents “A Summer Evening with Reese Witherspoon” for its annual benefit in honor of Academy Award® winning actress Reese Witherspoon on Saturday, June 23, from 6 to 10 p.m. at The Ritz-Carlton (160 E. Pearson Street). Witherspoon will attend and engage in a discussion led by a special guest host to be announced at a later date. Tickets are on sale now, available by calling (312) 846-2072. Prices start at $400 for a single ticket and $5,000 for a table.
A highlight of the evening will be the presentation of the “Gene Siskel Film Center Renaissance Award” to Witherspoon by SAIC President Dr. Walter E. Massey.
“It is a privilege to honor Witherspoon with the Gene Siskel Film Center’s annual award,” said Jean de St. Aubin, Executive Director, Gene Siskel Film Center of the SAIC. “Her wide range of performances have won the hearts of many, including her unforgettable roles as Tracy Flick in ‘Election,’ Elle Woods in ‘Legally Blonde,’ and her Oscar®-winning portrayal of June Carter Cash in ‘Walk the Line.’ We are also excited to talk with her about this year’s release ‘Water for Elephants’ and ‘This Means War’ which will be coming out in February.’ ”
The evening begins at 6 p.m. with a reception. Dinner will be served at 7 p.m., followed by the evening’s program. The discussion with Witherspoon and a special guest will feature film clips from Witherspoon’s career. At the conclusion of the program, Massey will present Witherspoon with the “Gene Siskel Film Center Renaissance Award.”
I’ve been a busy bee and have capped The Importance of Being Ernest much quicker than I expected! 750+ screencaps of Reese as the delightful and mischevious Cecily in the movie have now been added. I didn’t enjoy this movie much when I first watched it back when it came out, but this time around I thought it was pretty funny! Reese showed off her comedic timing to great effect in the movie, and I really enjoyed seeing her in this different kind of film. Her English accent was good too.
Cecily: You must not laugh at me, darling, but it has always been a girlish dream of mine to love a man named Ernest.
Next up to make screencaps of is The Importance Of Being Earnest, and I have started with caps from the DVD extras. There were a couple of Making Of/Behind The Scenes featurettes, which features footage of Reese filming a few scenes. The Menu’s had some really nice shots of Reese though!
Caps from the film itself will be added this weekend, all being well.
Screencaps from the rest of the Walk The Line 2 Disc Special Edition DVD have now been added to the Gallery. This 2nd disc has lots of great extras, including extended music sequences and various featurettes looking at the making of the movie and the man in black himself. There wasn’t as much of Reese as I had expected, but never-the-less the interviews and footage of her were a great watch. I particularly loved watching her full performance of Jukebox Blues! I’m continuing to slowly work my way through my Reese DVD’s, and today have added caps from disc 1 of the Walk The Line 2 Disc Special Edition. This disc had deleted scenes, although not many of them featured Reese. I’ve also added caps from the Menu’s and the Trailer that were on that disc. Caps from the 2nd disc – which has a lot of great features – will be added this week!
Today I have added screencaps from Reese’s 2000 movie Little Nicky, in which she played the angel Holly who was Nicky’s mum. The movie itself was … not my favourite, but Reese was adorable as the high school cheerleader-esque Holly – in fact, I would’ve loved to see a movie focussed on Holly! Reese looks super pretty in the heaven setting, and gives some classic expressions.

The first trailer for This Means War has recently been released, and it was closely followed by a poster and stills! You can watch the trailer embedded below, or enjoy it in HD at Apple. The HQ stills and posters, plus HD screencaps from the trailer, have all been added to our Gallery.

Reese started filming her new movie Mud in Arkansas last month, and was snapped all in blue on the set. I’ve added photos from that day on set to our Gallery.
You can also find the first still from the movie – of Matthew McConaughey who plays Mud – at EmpireOnline.com. They have some interesting quotes from Matthew about the movie, which he describes as a “summer-of-love fairytale” whilst also comparing the script to the classic coming-of-age tale Stand By Me.
These new photos certainly make me a lot more excited for this movie now – what do you think?
