| » Sam Worthington Offered This Means War |
Vulture has learned that Sam Worthington has been offered a starring role in Fox’s action/romantic comedy This Means War, to be directed by McG; Worthington and Chris Pine (who is already signed on) would play best friends and veteran spies who wage black-ops warfare on each other when they both fall for the same girl (Reese Witherspoon, who’s also producing, along with Will Smith’s company, Overbrook Entertainment). Of course, if this movie’s eleven-year, musical-chair history is any indication, Worthington will sit on the project for awhile and eventually wander off so the mongering can be passed on to someone else. Here’s a War history lesson: The project has been around since 1998, when it was set up as a comedy for Martin Lawrence. Since then, it has seen stars come and go, most recently Bradley Cooper. The project has also had many directors (Gore Verbinski was once attached) and writers: The list of scribes who have shaped and reshaped it include Burr Steers (How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days), Cormac and Marianne Wibberly (National Treasure), Kiernan and Michele Mulroney (Paper Man), and Tim Dowling (Role Models). The film is a priority for Fox — they’ll make it by 2042 if it kills them! — but complicating matters is that Worthington is also said to be considering doing Man on a Ledge for Summit Entertainment. In Ledge, he’d play an ex-cop threatening to jump to his death from a Manhattan hotel rooftop; unbeknownst to the police psychologists brought in to talk him down, the “suicide attempt” is a cover for the biggest diamond heist ever attempted. If he takes Summit’s offer, Fox may offer the War role to Colin Farrell, who wasn’t half bad as a spy-in-training in 2002′s The Recruit … that is, if you could hear him above Al Pacino’s near-constant screaming of failed catchphrases like “My dick’s on fire!” |

| » ‘Friends’ photos re-added |
While re-watching Friends for the millionth time, I realised I needed to re-cap Reese’s two guest episodes, and so have done that today! Over 400 new screencaps from Reese’s two episodes as Jill Greene in Season 6 (2000) have been added to the Gallery, alongside the stills that were in our old Gallery plus two new HQ stills. Reese is just hilarious in these episodes and her facial expressions are priceless! Despite it being only two guest appearances, this is probably some of my favourite work of Reese’s. Also, I wanted to remind you why updates are slow around here at the moment. They will continue to be slow for another few weeks as my offline life continues to be very busy. But I’m looking forward to doing a lot of work on re-building the Gallery as soon as I have more time! I did do a massive update a few weeks ago, and will post about that asap when the section is complete.

| » Water For Elephants updates |
Many news sources are reporting on Robert Pattinson having cut his hair (shocking!), and on a recent appearance on the Ellen Show, he confirmed it was for Water For Elephants. He also stated that work on the film starts today – May 20th – in Los Angeles, and photos can be seen at Celebrity-Gossip.net of him on the set today. No sign of Reese yet, but I will keep my eyes out and post the first set photos as soon as I find any! Feel free to post a comment here if you come across any.
EDIT: I’ve been looking for more details, and come across a video of Reese talking about the project, and a further quote from Robert Pattinson.

| » Woody Allen eyes Blanchett, Witherspoon |
Woody Allen has nominated Cate Blanchett and Reese Witherspoon as two actresses he’d be keen to work with in the future. ‘These are two actresses that I would like to work with, because I think they’re both very talented,’ Allen said. ‘But I don’t know them. I’ve never had the opportunity to speak with them.’ Allen was in Cannes where his latest tale You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger premiered on Saturday. He missed Blanchett by only a couple of days: she was at Cannes on Thursday for Robin Hood, in which she stars with Russell Crowe. Allen’s new film features Naomi Watts, Anthony Hopkins, Antonio Banderas, Josh Brolin, Gemma Jones and Freida Pinto. |
