When “This Means War” hits theaters on Valentine’s Day, the Reese Witherspoon action comedy will arrive with a PG-13 rating, TheWrap has confirmed.

Fox, the studio behind the McG film, has trimmed sexual content in the film, and in return the Motion Picture Association of America has removed the R-rating, a spokeswoman for the ratings board said.

In addition to Witherspoon, “This Means War” stars Tom Hardy and Chris Pine. It centers on two CIA agents who compete for the same woman.

Fox lost its appeal on Thursday of the MPAA’s rating.

After hearing statements from Ted Gagliano, president of feature post production for Twentieth Century Fox and from Joan Graves, who chairs the Classification and Rating Administration, the board upheld the R rating due to sexual content.

“This Means War” will now apparently arrive in theaters with a little less steam heat — or at least with the sensuality and sex jokes dialed down a notch or two.

For an appeal to be successful, two-thirds of the board must vote that the rating is “clearly erroneous.”

The board reviews between 800 and 900 movies each year. Usually, fewer than 12 are appealed.

Reese graces the cover of the March issue of UK Glamour magazine, looking super pretty in an all-new photoshoot! Thanks to tweeter tetcutiepie we have a preview of the cover. I’ll post more photos and info/quotes from the editorial as soon as they are released. I expect more details will be released in the next few days before the magazine hits newsstands at the beginning of February.

Continuing with old movie screencaptures, today I have watched and capped American Psycho for you. Reese plays Evelyn in this 2000 horror/thriller. This was the few Reese movies I’d never seen before so I was glad to watch it finally, and while it’s definitely not one of my favourite movies (far too bloody for me!), I thought it was a fairly interesting take on a male psyche, with some clever sardonic wit. It was again a very, very different project for Reese and she was hilarious!

The recent Elle US interview actually gave us some insights into Reese and director Mary Harron’s casting of her in the project – Harron told the magazine that Reese didn’t want to play the secretary, as was originally intended, because she felt she was too much of a victim. Reese obviously wanted to play a character with more control and zest, something which Evelyn certainly had and a quality that, Reese says, saved Evelyn [I won't give away a spoiler!]!

I’ve added screencaptures from the film itself, plus the trailer, a (very funny) deleted scene, and the cast interviews.

Have you seen this movie? What did you think of it? It certainly brings up a lot to discuss. Share your thoughts and reviews by posting a comment if you wish…

Check out this super rare treat of Reese talking to MTV way back in 1991 – that’s 21 years ago! I can’t believe Reese has been working in Hollywood for that long, can you?

Unfortunately those outside the US can’t view the video (thanks, MTV), but hopefully there will be some other way for us to get it, and if so I will of course post here.

Reese Witherspoon is slated to sit down with MTV News on Tuesday for an exclusive interview and premiere of a previously unseen clip from her upcoming film “This Means War.” The special, “MTV First: Reese Witherspoon,” will air on Tuesday at 7:56 p.m. ET on MTV.

But before we look to the future, we are going to take a peep at her past. MTV News has uncovered a precious vintage gem, a 1991 interview with the then up-and-comer. “Ever since I was 7,” the already precocious and sassy rookie told MTV News when asked whether she had always had her sights set on a career in Hollywood. “I just thought, I always wanted to do something really outgoing ’cause when I was little I was really kind of quiet, but you know, I’d always be really creative at home and stuff, and finally I started, you know, speaking out and doing little things to impress everybody.”

She further explained that once she had decided that acting was something she wanted to do, she took the necessary steps to make sure she’d be ready for fame and stardom. “I started taking little acting classes and improv classes and, you know, [that] turned out to be what I was going to do,” she said. “I was always going to do something really out there, really far away. Does that make any sense? No, not really.”

Katherine Heigl mentioned Reese in a recent interview, saying that she loves watching Reese’s movies:

AP: Since leaving the show, you’ve starred in several romantic comedies. Are you worried about being typecast?

Heigl: They tend to be the movies I watch when I’m home and hanging out and want to relax. I want to watch Kate Hudson, I want to watch Reese Witherspoon, I want to watch all those great movies that make you feel good. So I loved being a part of them and I didn’t mind being typecast, but any time you start to wander outside the box a little bit people start to get confused. … This one is an interesting one because it wasn’t a conscious decision not to do romantic comedy. … The book explores so many different themes that in order to honor it properly and do right by it we couldn’t just turn it into a romantic comedy.

Reese Witherspoon is unsure how her new movie ‘This Means War’ with Chris Pine and Tom Hardy ends.

The Oscar-winning actress – who stars alongside Chris Pine and Tom Hardy in the romantic spy comedy – admits multiple endings were shot for the final scene, meaning she does not know which of the lead actors she ends up with.

She said: “We shot endings where I could end up with Tom, or I could end up with Chris, or I could end up alone. Or I could end up with Chelsea Handler!”

The blonde beauty wears a number of vertiginous pairs of heels in the film, directed by McG, and she was shocked when Chris Pine – best known as Captain Kirk in ‘Star Trek’ – asked her to keep them on during a sex scene.

She told Total Film magazine: “Tom and Chris were both Obsessed with my shoes. Both of them! Obsessed with me wearing high-heeled sexy shoes. I was actually doing a sex scene with Chris and he said, ‘Can you keep your shoes on?’ I was like, ‘OK,’.”
