Ms. Witherspoon looked like a true movie star at the Toronto Film Festival Rendition premiere. She wore a stunning black number and had her hair on soft waves. It may be one of my personal favorite Reese looks of all time!

Even Witherspoon, normally the most spirited of performers who can inject even limited characters and blah scripts with her own spark, can do little but mope around and search for different ways to look worried. A limited acting exercise, to say the least.

Two of young Hollywood’s biggest superstars descended upon the Toronto International Film Festival on Friday to promote what’s already one of the most buzzed-about movies of the 10-day movie marathon.

Reese Witherspoon and Jake Gyllenhaal, rumoured to have become romantically involved when they shot the taut, post-9-11 thriller Rendition last year, sat with two people between them at a packed downtown news conference and weren’t asked any questions about their alleged relationship.

The flaxen-haired Witherspoon, dressed in a black and navy cap-sleeved dress with black patent stilettos, said she was happy to take on the role because of how it personalized the after-shocks of terrorism.

Witherspoon plays the pregnant wife of an Egyptian-American travelling abroad who is detained – and soon savagely tortured – following a deadly suicide bombing that kills a CIA operative. She embarks upon a mission to find her husband as Gyllenhaal, playing a CIA man with a conscience in Egypt, tries to determine the terrified man’s guilt or innocence.

“We become more anesthetized as we see more news and coverage of things that I just don’t connect to anymore … it feels like the suicide bombings are so prolific and sometimes you don’t find the stories of reverberation, and how the families are affected,” said the 31-year-old actress.

Reese Witherspoon is currently in Toronto, Canada at the 2007 Toronto International Film Festival. She attended the press conference for Redition earlier today with fellow cast Jake Gyllenhaal and Peter Sarsgaard, and looked stunning in black and navy blue dress with black pumps. Her hair was lovely in loose waves! The first available pictures are now up in the gallery. The world premiere of the film is tonight so I’m sure we’ll see premiere pictures soon!

The first poster for Rendition has made is debut. You can check it out in the gallery. I have to say it’s pretty powerful, and I’m growing more and more excited to see this film.

Rendition is a thriller from director Gavin Hood. Witherspoon stars as the American wife of an Egyptian-born chemical engineer who disappears on a flight from South Africa to Washington. The woman desperately tries to track her husband down, while a CIA analyst (Jake Gyllenhaal) at a secret detention facility outside the U.S. is forced to question his assignment as he becomes party to the man’s unorthodox interrogation.

Rendition will see its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on Friday, September 7, 2007. For further details and ticket information, please refer to the festival’s website.

As promised, Glamour Reese Witherspoon has provided you with high quality scans of Reese’s awesome cover & spread in the August 24th issue of Entertainment Weekly magazine. In the article they state Reese will begin Four Christimases in the Winter, and next year the longly delayed Our Family Trouble (aka Bell Witch). Regular visitors will know that Our Family Trouble has been on and off since late 2005. Four Christmases, in which Reese would co-star alongside Vince Vaugn was just recently annouced in July.

Also an interesting mention in the article, Rendition co-producer Mark Martin says he initially had actress Cate Blanchett in mind for the role of Isabella El-Ibrahim, but Steve Golin, one of the producing partners, says he saw Reese in the role right away. He said “The movie is about somebody you love disapearing, and Reese is such a beloved actress – she’s such a girl-next-door type, only more beautiful – it makes what she goes through more relatable.” Wouldn’t you agree? As reported yesterday, the trailer for Rendition was released today and can now be downloaded in high definition over at MovieFone! Be sure to check it out; it looks really, really good and Reese’s scenes are very powerful. I truly can’t wait to see her performance!

While watching Entertainment Tonight this evening they showed a brief clip of Reese at the Avon press conference and also a brief preview of the trailer for Reese’s upcoming thriller, Rendition. The full trailer will premiere tomorrow on ET, and most likely it will make it’s debut online as well. I’m speechless over what I saw because this will most certainly be a Reese Witherspoon performance we cannot miss!

Reese stars as alongside some great actors such as Jake Gyllenhaal, Meryl Streep, Peter Sarsgaard, and Alan Arkin in the movie due for release on October 12, 2007 in the States. Reese will play Isabella El-Ibrahim, the pregnant American wife of an Egyptian-born chemical engineer whose family emigrated to the States in the mid 1980s, who is shipped off to a third world country for interrogation after he is deemed a political prisoner in our post-9/11 world. Alan Arkin will play a senator who tries to help Reese’s character in her search for her missing husband. The investigation eventually threatens the senator’s position in Washington.

Anwar El-Ibrahimi (Omar Metwalley) is an Egyptian-born man who is suspected of terrorism. When he disappears while on a flight from South Africa to Washington, D.C., his American wife (Reese Witherspoon) makes her way to Washington to try to uncover the reasons behind his disappearance.

As she is searching for answers, CIA analyst Doug Freeman (Jake Gyllenhaal) is stationed at a detention facility somewhere outside the United States. When he sees the unorthodox interrogation of El-Ibrahimi, he questions his assignment and becomes caught up in the struggle to secure the man’s release.

Rendition is directed by Gavin Hood, who previously attained recognition for helming the Academy Award-winning Tsotsi. This is his first effort at a major motion picture release, and it should be fascinating to see its reception. It’s a movie that is packed with talent, including Academy Award winners Witherspoon, Meryl Streep and Alan Arkin as well as recent Oscar nominee Gyllenhaal. It’s likely to be positioned as an awards contender as it nears release.
