Reese Witherspoon gets her African “s” countries mixed up in the first trailer for “The Good Lie.”

The Oscar winner plays a tough-as-nails woman who takes in three Sudanese refugees (she asks whether they’re from Somalia or Senegal) to help them get a fresh start in the U.S.

“House of Cards” alum Corey Stoll, Sudanese actors Arnold Oceng, Ger Duany and Emmanuel Jal, and newcomer Nyakuoth Weil, some of whom were children of war in real life, also star in director Philippe Falardeau’s pic.

Margaret Nagle started writing this Blacklist screenplay 10 years ago. Brian Grazer, Ron Howard and “Blind Side” EP Molly Smith are producing.

Alcon Entertainment will release the pic via Warner Bros. on October 3. It was originally slated for September 10.

West Memphis Three drama ‘Devil’s Knot’ with Reese Witherspoon sets release date
Devil’s Knot, Atom Egoyan’s docudrama about the West Memphis Three, will arrive in U.S. theaters and on VOD on May 9th. Starring Reese Witherspoon and Colin Firth, the movie recounts the tragic true story of three missing boys in the religious community of Memphis, Ark., and the frenzied rush to justice that condemned three teenagers to prison for a horrific crime. The West Memphis Three — Damien Echols, Jesse Misskelley Jr., and Jason Baldwin — were convicted in 1994 of murdering the three boys, in part because of hyped suspicions that the trio were satanists. Doubts about the three men’s guilt were widespread, though, and their plight became a cause célèbre that resulted in several documentaries that shed new light on the case.

In the film, Witherspoon plays the mother of one of the victims, but her anguish gives way to doubts as community fears and hysteria gain momentum leading up to the trial. Firth plays Ron Lax, the private investigator who becomes suspicious of the community’s rush to judgment and pokes holes in the evidence used to convict the teenagers.

Early in December, Reese made her regular appearance at the annual Children’s Defense Fund’s ‘Beat the Odds’ Awards event in Beverley Hills. Reese serves on the Board of Directors for the Children’s Defense Fund, which is a child advocacy organisation. At the event, she presented an award to a local high school student who ‘beat the odds’ to achieve academic excellence. Reese looked gorgeous in a blue and black Michael Kors dress with Casadei ‘Blade’ heels. And she’s sporting a new hair-do – Reese has cut her hair into a shoulder-length bob, and I think she looks amazing! The whole look here is very chic and pretty. Reese was snapped with Jennifer Garner and Conan O’Brien at the event.

Check out over 80 HQ photos from the celebration in the Gallery, and read on further down this post for a few articles about the awards.

Back in October, Reese attended Elle’s Women In Hollywood Celebration event in Beverley Hills. She was of one of the honourees of the night, and her friend Chelsea Handler presented her with her award. Reese dazzled in a strapless red cocktail dress by Calvin Klein with nude heels by Manolo Blahnik, and was accompanied by her husband who sat with her in the audience.

Over 180 HQ photos from the event have been added to our Gallery!

Reese Witherspoon: “I have an older brother so I saw a lot of things I wasn’t supposed to, but The Breakfast Club, Sixteen Candles, and The Sure Thing were really big movies for me. I watched them over and over again.” (Elle.com)

Reese started filming her new movie Wild a couple of months ago, and I’ve now added photos from the set to our Gallery. Reese herself shared the first official still from the movie on her official website. This looks like a really interesting movie, and a completely different role for Reese! Judging by her tweets during the filming for the movie, it sounds like she’s pretty excited about it as well.

HQ set pics and the official still are in the Gallery…

Wild centers on a young woman, who, to absolve herself of the sins of her tragic life and seek a new start, hikes a thousand miles of the Pacific Crest Trail. It is based on the book Wild: From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail, written by Cheryl Strayed.

Reese was honoured by Elle for their annual Women In Hollywood celebration, and to coincide with that, she appeared on the cover of their November 2013 issue. Reese took up 2 pages in their spread for the honourees, with a new photoshoot and interview. Read a couple of quotes from the interview below, and find the full thing in the Gallery.

The Thai and Finnish editions of Elle have both reprinted this US cover for their recent issues. See those covers in the Gallery as well.

Reese Witherspoon, on what inspired her to begin producing movies: “I started noticing a couple years ago that I wasn’t seeing women as the stars of movies. I’m seeing them as the guys’ girlfriends, or so-and-so’s wife. I just thought: God, if I don’t start buckling down and start producing some movies, what’s my daughter going to see in the movies?”

Reese Witherspoon, on how her children changed her life: “Somebody was saying to me the other day, ‘Oh, people get less interesting when they have kids.’ I just don’t think that’s true. I feel like I was so confused before I had kids, I almost got in my own way. Having kids made me clearer about who I was as a woman. I just wanted to exhibit good qualities for my daughter. I was a little competitive before I had kids—probably really competitive, to be honest. It really made me let go of that.”

It’s been a while since a proper update here, due to my busy few months, so it’s time to play catch-up! First up: some news on Reese’s upcoming drama movie Devil’s Knot. The first trailer for the movie was released in late November, and you can watch it below. We also have a new official poster for the film – previewed to the left, and in full-size in the Gallery.

As for a US release date, it is going to be in the 2nd quarter of 2014, according to the article posted below. That would be an April/May/June date, I guess. A Canadian poster – also in the Gallery – lists the films release date there as January 24th. IMDB list a few other international release dates here.

I’m looking forward to seeing more about this movie in the coming months!

Reese attended the Toronto Film Festival last night for the world premiere of her new movie Devil’s Knot. She was joined by her director Atom Egoyan, and co-star Colin Firth, Stephen Moyer and Mirielle Enos. Reese wowed on the red carpet wearing a Jason Wu print dress with a low v-neck, a Jason Wu ‘Karlie’ clutch, and green Jimmy Choo ‘Anouk’ heels. She looks fabulous! Over 90 HQ photos from the red carpet and after-party are up in our Gallery for your viewing pleasure.

Reese’s make-up artist Mai Quynh talked In Style through the products she used to give Reese such a fresh face for the night here. Toronto Life also have a few additional pics from the event. Finally, further down this post are a few reviews of the film – as you can read, they are mixed. I particularly liked the one from Variety about Reese’s performance.

Back in March, Reese attended The Hollywood Reporter and Jimmy Choo’s Stylists Luncheon in honour of Hollywood’s top stylists. Reese was there to support her stylist Leslie Fremar (who topped THR’s list this year), and she wore a shirt with a navy jumper and jeans. I have only just come across photos from the event, and have now added them to the Gallery for you……

Hello Reese fans! I am back with another 500+ photos from Reese’s 2005 public appearances, and am pleased to say I have now completed this year! Today’s additions include photos from some of Reese’s biggest premieres and events when she was promoting Walk The Line such as the two premieres for the film, the Johnny Cash celebration event, and the CMA Awards. Reese looks absolutely beautiful at all events – I really think she looked at her most radiant in 2005! Reese’s looks at the two premieres for the film are amongst my favourites of hers, too. Enjoy the Reese nostalgia……
