I don’t usually post movie reviews here anymore, partly because there are so many, and partly because I think it’s nicer for you to search out and read a variety of the ones you want, rather than me just posting the good ones here But I’ve just come across this This Means War review from the New York Times which I thought had an interesting comment on Reese’s career. Have a read below, and if you want more This Means War reviews, head on over to Google and Google News to do a search…
Buddy C.I.A. Officers Trade Guns for Roses
The cute couple in the strained, largely mirthless romantic comedy “This Means War” sometimes walk and talk alike. And because this is something of a spy flick — aspirationally, it aims for a genre hybrid along the lines of “Mr. and Mrs. Smith,” with its locked-and-loaded love — the pair can execute a nice run-and-gun pas de deux. They’re awfully pretty these two, light on their feet and easy with the banter, but because they’re played by Tom Hardy and Chris Pine, and the age of mainstream-studio gay love has yet to dawn, Reese Witherspoon keeps getting in the way.
Reese’s new action-comedy movie This Means War is released in US theatres nationwide today! Reese stars alongside Tom Hardy and Chris Pine in what has been called her “sexiest role yet”, and a plot that she describes as “every woman’s fantasy”!
The world’s deadliest CIA operatives are inseparable partners and best friends until they fall for the same woman. Having once helped bring down entire enemy nations, they are now employing their incomparable skills and an endless array of high-tech gadgetry against their greatest nemesis ever – each other.
Check out all our News & Updates on the movie (Reese has been busy promoting it!), as well as all the photos we have from the movie. And don’t forget to pay a visit to the Official Site. The official theatrical trailer is below.
Are you going to see the movie? Have you already been?! We’d love to hear your thoughts on it, so come and pay us another visit once you’ve seen the movie and tell us what you thought about it. Keep the spoilers at bay though, please – the ending is sure to be a surprise!
FoxSingapore have released a promotional featurette video for This Means War, with clips from the movie, interviews, and behind the scenes footage. Most of it we’ve seen before, but there are a couple of Reese interview snippets that I haven’t seen before. See for yourself:
Oscar winning star Reese Witherspoon sits down with the MediaJor (Jorge Carreon) to dish about the joys of making her first real action pic, “This Means War,” the importance of having the counsel of good friends and why Cheetohs will forever remind her of pal/co-star Chelsea Handler.
Reese is listed to be appearing on The Ellen DeGeneres Show tomorrow, Friday February 17th, so US fans, check your local listings for times, and tune in!
The official Ellen site has posted a preview video of tomorrow’s show, but the only footage it shows of Reese is from her appearance last year.
Reese made an appearance on her co-star and friend Chelsea Handler’s show Chelsea Lately last night, and the two chatted about the movie, Reese’s new website and Facebook page, and Chelsea’s tweeting. It was a fun interview, and I felt like we got to see much more of the real Reese during this interview, as she was talking to a friend. The interview has been uploaded to YouTube, but unfortunately it seems to only be available to those in the US, which is disappointing for the rest of us!! I’ll keep an eye out for a version that everyone can watch.
I have, however, been able to add a full set of screencaps from the interview, and you can find them in our Gallery. Reese looks super pretty in an all black ensemble – I love her sparkly black top!
Australian tv show The Project aired an interview with Reese today to promote This Means War, and the video is now online. It was an interesting interview, in which Reese talked about how the movie is about women taking their power back, why Chelsea Handler is such a good friend, and the differences between Tom and Chris. Watch it below, and check the Gallery for screencaps very soon…
VIDEO: Reese Witherspoon: When I Realized I Was Becoming Like My Mother
The This Means War star dishes on parenting and why she decided to embrace her inner sexy action hero
As much as they try to avoid it, most women find a moment after they have kids when they realize they just might be turning into their mom. And for Reese Witherspoon, it was no different.
“It’s usually something while you’re parenting,” the star of This Means War (in theaters Feb. 17) tells iVillage exclusively. “A phrase slips out like, ‘Because I said so.’ And then you go, ‘Oh, that sounds like my mother.’”
The 35-year-old mom of two (she has Ava, 12, and Deacon, 8, from her marriage to Ryan Phillippe) also admits that she’s still struggling to find a balance between career and motherhood — even now that her kids are getting older. “At every age it’s a different set of difficulties. Certain things get easier, certain things get harder.”
Watch our exclusive video interview with the actress and her sexy costars, Chris Pine and Tom Hardy, to find out the one thing Witherspoon’s new hubby, Jim Toth, did not do to woo her — and to hear why Pine says his favorite chick flick is Lady and the Tramp.
This Means War star Chelsea Handler may be single — but don’t expect to see her describing herself as a “blond comedian who loves long walks on the beach.” The actress says she won’t be making an online dating profile anytime soon.
“Oh my God, I don’t know if I could ever date online,” she tells iVillage exclusively. “I don’t like dating to begin with. Dating is just too awkward. You can’t just like meet for coffee — it’s just too weird. And I can’t do it sober!”
But the one person Handler will hang out with sober is her BFF (and costar in her upcoming comedy, in theaters Feb. 17) Reese Witherspoon. “The last couple times we hung out we haven’t even had drinks,” says Handler, 36. “She said to me the other night, ‘God, we’re having a lot of sober time together. We better get refocused in the new year.’”
Watch our exclusive video to find out why Witherspoon refuses to drive up Handler’s driveway and why Handler “feels more comfortable” talking to the film’s director, McG, when his hand is on her boob.
