That time of year again: The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce announcing which celebrities get a star on the Walk of Fame. Here’s the 2011 list, which is so much better than last year’s WTF picks, which included somebody who doesn’t actually exist.

Here’s a War history lesson: The project has been around since 1998, when it was set up as a comedy for Martin Lawrence. Since then, it has seen stars come and go, most recently Bradley Cooper. The project has also had many directors (Gore Verbinski was once attached) and writers: The list of scribes who have shaped and reshaped it include Burr Steers (How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days), Cormac and Marianne Wibberly (National Treasure), Kiernan and Michele Mulroney (Paper Man), and Tim Dowling (Role Models).

The film is a priority for Fox — they’ll make it by 2042 if it kills them! — but complicating matters is that Worthington is also said to be considering doing Man on a Ledge for Summit Entertainment. In Ledge, he’d play an ex-cop threatening to jump to his death from a Manhattan hotel rooftop; unbeknownst to the police psychologists brought in to talk him down, the “suicide attempt” is a cover for the biggest diamond heist ever attempted. If he takes Summit’s offer, Fox may offer the War role to Colin Farrell, who wasn’t half bad as a spy-in-training in 2002′s The Recruit … that is, if you could hear him above Al Pacino’s near-constant screaming of failed catchphrases like “My dick’s on fire!”

Also, I wanted to remind you why updates are slow around here at the moment. They will continue to be slow for another few weeks as my offline life continues to be very busy. But I’m looking forward to doing a lot of work on re-building the Gallery as soon as I have more time! I did do a massive update a few weeks ago, and will post about that asap when the section is complete.

Reese Witherspoon Offered A Role In Paul Thomas Anderson’s Untitled Relgion Pic? Shooting Starting In June?
Things have been pretty quiet on the Paul Thomas Anderson front and his new untitled religion picture, affectionately known as “The Master” by fans.

Loosely — or not so loosely — based on the life of Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard (read our review of a very early draft of the script), we know that Philip Seymour Hoffman will play the messianic lead, Jeremy Renner will play Freddie Sutton, the drifter character that becomes The Master’s right hand man, and we know that Universal passed on the project and River Road is footing the bill (the company that produced Terrence Malick’s “Tree Of Life” and Doug Liman’s “Fair Game”; Honcho Bill Pohlad is also an investor in distributor Apparition, so don’t be surprised if the film ends up there).

Now comes a few more details from the latest issue of Production Weekly. According to their intel, Reese Witherspoon has been offered a role in the picture and the production is eyeing a June start date. Producing is John Lesher, Pohlad and Jo Anne Sellar.

June is next week if it actually starts on the first. Could the production really be this ready to go and no one’s really reported that yet?

Zero further details are given, but we would assume that if Witherspoon takes a role, it’s one of the the Master’s daughters who acts as his caretakers and vigilant lieutenants (possibly the one named Mary-Sue). Witherspoon is also attached to McG’s “This Means War,” which is supposed to start shooting in July, so that could be a potential conflict if she even agrees to the role (she’s also currently shooting “Water For Elephants”). However, all of the daughters’ roles in the draft that floated around earlier this year were pretty tiny. Sure, it was an early script and things must have certainly changed, but we can’t imagine it’s been completely deconstructed.

There is one small role of a prostitute who also hooks up with Renner’s character, but that role, while reoccurring throughout, does feel pretty small too. Witherspoon can be pretty commanding when she needs to be — her company is called Type A productions after all — and some have joked she’s not that far removed from the Tracy Flick character she portrayed in “Election,” so we think she would be pretty good for the key daughter who oversees her father’s business and best interests.

But again, it is just an offer. She could easily turn it down, there were some salacious bits with the daughter in that early draft, we’ll just have to wait and see and hope this report uncovers more info.

Reese Witherspoon May Be Joining Paul Thomas Anderson’s Next Film
There’s really no upcoming movie more worth your anticipation and excitement than the untitled project Paul Thomas Anderson is working on, the story widely believed to be based on Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard. Aside from simply being the next project from the always fascinating Anderson, the movie had already assembled a killer cast– Philip Seymour Hoffman in the lead, Jeremy Renner as his sidekick, and who knows what other kind of Anderson regulars to fill in side roles.

So how would Reese Witherspoon being added to the cast change your feelings about it? The Playlist picked up a report in the print edition of Production Weekly that claims Witherspoon has been offered a role in the film, which starts production in June. It’s not clear what the role might be, and given that The Playlist has read the script and wasn’t able to find too many substantial female roles, it’s hard for them to imagine what role Witherspoon might actually play. Then again, scripts change, and we know so little about what Anderson is up to that things could have changed drastically since the draft The Playlist saw.

Witherspoon is currently starring in the film adaptation of Water for Elephants, which just started filming and presumably wouldn’t leave her free to play a major role anyway. So maybe she really is popping in for a cameo, maybe because she was such a fan of There Will Be Blood? It seems unlikely, sure, but Witherspoon has proven she has smart instincts in the past– maybe she really is making a run toward the arthouse.

“It’s set in the Depression era, when circuses traveled by train and this guy runs away and jumps on a train to be a hobo and by accident, he doesnt realize it’s a circus train. He becomes part of this world because he has no life to go back to and ends up falling in love with the ringmaster’s wife, played by Reese Witherspoon. The ringmaster just happens to be kind of a schizophrenic as well. He’s a most charismatic and terrifying person. He’s Christoph Waltz from Inglourious Basterds. I did a read through yesterday with him. He was sitting right next to me. It was a little terrifying.”

Allen was in Cannes where his latest tale You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger premiered on Saturday.

He missed Blanchett by only a couple of days: she was at Cannes on Thursday for Robin Hood, in which she stars with Russell Crowe.

Allen’s new film features Naomi Watts, Anthony Hopkins, Antonio Banderas, Josh Brolin, Gemma Jones and Freida Pinto.

As we’ve mentioned numerous times there will be a new layout, all the content will be updated and new content will be added. The Gallery also needs to be re-built, and just this weekend I’ve been saving and sorting photos that will be uploaded in time. There’s lots to do, but please do bear with me as I will be re-building the site to return it to it’s former standard! I’m excited about getting to that point, and hope you are too.

Of course, the potential casting reminded us immediately of the unlikely match of Seth and James Franco in “Pineapple Express,” which turned out to be perfect because of their pitch-perfect chemistry together. While Seth and Chris haven’t worked together previously like Seth and James did in “Freak and Geeks,” we still think the comparison fits.

While neither Seth nor Chris have been confirmed for a role in Fox’s long-in-production romantic comedy “This Means War,” TheWrap seems to believe they are the two most likely candidates to land the parts. Each would hypothetically play best friends whose friendship is torn apart after a woman (Reese Witherspoon) moves into their spare room. Their fighting gets so violent that they end up destroying such important New York City landmarks as the Empire State Building and the Statue of Liberty. McG is set to direct it.

The plot seems a little hokey, but we like the idea of Seth and Chris fighting over Reese in a romantic comedy. And it turns out we weren’t so far off on our “Pineapple Express” comparison. James Franco had originally been offered the role of one of the best friends, but has since turned it down. TheWrap seems to think Seth would move over and take the part James gave up, thus allowing him to star opposite Chris.

Fox has been chasing a number of high-profile actors for the character of FDR (one of the best friends and the role for which Seth and Chris had originally been short-listed), according to Production Weekly. In addition to Seth and Chris, Robert Downey Jr. and Matt Damon are potential candidates. But TheWrap got news that Robert isn’t considering the role and that Matt hasn’t even looked at the script yet, which is what helped lead them to their assumption.

“This Means War” was originally purchased by Fox in 1998, which means the project has been sitting in production hell for more than 12 years. While the film now has Reese and McG attached and the script is getting a rewrite from “Role Models’” Tim Dowling, there are no guarantees when or if the film will hit theaters. Still, the idea of Seth and Chris starring opposite each other is enough to get us excited enough to keep an eye on the project into the future.

Witherspoon in 2007 initially optioned Rebecca Godfrey’s book about the gruesome murder of Reena Virk by eight fellow students under a small bridge in Saanich, B.C.

Virk’s death, and the subsequent trial and convictions of her slayers, provoked a national debate among Canadians over high school bullying and violence.

Vancouver-based Brightlight and Toronto-based Rhombus will partner with Type A Films to develop “Under the Bridge.”

Shawn Williamson and Stephen Hegyes will produce for Brightlight, Niv Fichman for Rhombus and Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Simpson will produce for Type A Films.

No word on creative elements and casting.

Brightlight and Rhombus most recently co-produced “Gunless,” a comic western starring Paul Gross and Sienna Guillory, and directed by William Philips, set for theatrical release here on April 30 by Alliance Films.

The Mission Impossible hero would play a rodeo champion who falls for an up-and-coming country singer, played by Oscar-winning Reese, The LA Times reports.

The romantic drama was set up at New Line before moving to Sony, where it is being produced by Will Smith’s Overbrook Entertainment.

Italian filmmaker Gabriele Muccino, who worked with Will on Seven Pounds and The Pursuit Of Happyness, is among the directors who are in talks to helm the project.

Reese is an obvious choice for leading lady after her Oscar-winning turn as June Carter Cash in Walk The Line.

She recently signed up to star in The Pioneer Woman, about a woman who falls in love with a cowboy while on a cross-country road trip and winds up living on an Oklahoma ranch.
