Director James L. Brooks (Spanglish) is set to team with Reese Witherspoon on an untitled comedy for Columbia Pictures, says Variety, confirming an earlier report by Collider.
The trade adds that Brooks has been holed up writing the screenplay for the film, which is described as an ensemble project that boasts at least three major characters — a hallmark of such Brooks films as Broadcast News and Terms of Endearment.
Witherspoon is the only lead to sign on so far.
The plot of the film, which has the working title How Do You Know?, is being kept under wraps. The studio is eyeing a March start date.

Check out the super funny video of Reese on Jimmy Kimmel this past week (after the cut). She talks a lot about her farm and all the animal’s names, funny stuff! I really love what she wore too. Purple is one of my favorite colors on Reese and she so rarely wears it!
– Talk Shows: David Letterman – November 26, 2008
As stated earlier, Reese jetted to London during the Thanksgiving Holiday to do some promos for Four Christmases, even more fabulous interviews have come up and here they are, in addition to a behind the scenes featurette from the film. I will add screencaptures of everything when I’m feeling better, right now I have a sucky flu.
Also according to visitor Elenor, Reese was on The Graham Norton Show Thursday. Online you can see what seems to be the video but it’s for UK residents only. If someone has this video or can obtain it for the other fans please send it in!
As you know Reese has been all over the place, coast-to-coast promoting Four Christmases. I have now rounded up just about all the video interviews, news reports and clips from the promotion I can find/grab for archiving. I have added 19 videos to our upcoming new video archive alone, that site is offline but they can be streamed in an embeded format after the cut (click here) and their screencaptures are in the gallery.
Interviews & Talk Shows: 11 online interview junkets/premiere footage. My personal favorite is ET Online with all the Christmases gifts. Totally cute! Reese also made a talk show appearance on CW 31 on the 24th (the date of her GMA & Regis appearances, so she looks a little tired at the end). I will be adding the Regis and Jimmy Kimmel caps & videos very soon as well as a few more related things. Don’t worry in case you missed them!
News Segments: 5 reports added. Mostly are Reese being interviewed at the premiere of the film.
Four Christmases Footage: Check out 10 off-site clips, on Yahoo! and a TV spot below.
Edit: For some of you who had problems with the previous playlist, please go here for individual videos. Remember to have Flash enabled.
Pictures and caps from David Letterman and it’s arrivals have been added. View the clip of cutesy Reese after the cut.
In this interview Reese mentions she’s going to London for some Four Christmases press during this Holiday. The Deacon story is too cute too!
Happy Four Christmases day! Reese’s new Holiday romp is in theatres in North America so be sure to go out and check it out this Holiday weekend. I have tons of things to add tomorrow so be sure to come back for lots of updates! I didn’t get time today because I got caught up with some early guests for my own festivities. Lastly, I’d also like to wish a Happy Thanksgiving to those celebrating!
Here are some critic reviews. Be sure to let us know your thoughts on Reese and the film by commenting or in the forum. Reviews are mixed.

And Ms. Witherspoon serves as a game comic sidekick to the irrepressible Mr. Vaughn, who basically does what he always does, which is to stammer, bluster and wheedle his way through a performance that scrambles the distinction between brute and wimp. He has a tendency, slyly mocked in a church pageant scene, to upstage whomever he’s paired with, and Ms. Witherspoon, though a fine comedian in her own right, is perhaps a bit too decorous and obliging.
From: Baltimore Sun
Witherspoon is at her most winning, struggling to control situations where that’s clearly impossible.
What makes Four Christmases work, despite a few missteps into the overbroad, is that it starts with the ridiculous, then moves toward the sublime. By the end of the film, the audience has taken the same journey as Brad and Kate, and comes to the same realizations about family and relationships: They may not always be fun, and they may take work, but often they’re all we have.
