Kate Winslet and Reese Witherspoon are neighbors and drinking buddies? Who knew?
“I always wanted to be a European movie star, wear giant sunglasses, elaborate neck scarves, smoke hand-rolled cigarettes, and have savoir faire and gravitas,” Reese admitted onstage at the BAFTA/LA Cunard Britannia Awards last night.
Obviously, the perky all-American actress couldn’t become one. So she became friends with one.
“Imagine my good fortune when Kate Winslet moved into my neighborhood, rang my door bell and said, (insert British accent here) “Dahling, Sam is off shooting, and I believe our children are the same age. Could they possibly have a play date and oh, by the way, it’s almost 9 o’clock and I’ve had nothing to do drink, do you have any wine?”
As earlier reported, Ms. Witherspoon attended the 16th Annual BAFTA/LA Cunard Britannia Awards yesterday in Los Angeles. There she presented an award to good friend Kate Winslet. Reese did not appear on the red carpet as she went to another event earlier the day – Children’s Defense Fund’s 17th Annual Beat the Odds Awards, which Reese attends annually. For more information on the cause, please click here. The gallery has been updated with images from both events.
By the way, the gallery registrations are currently closed. This is because we are opening the new gallery in the next few weeks. Sorry for any inconvenience!
Reese Witherspoon is desperate to work with Hollywood actress Kate Winslet — because they have so much in common. The Oscar-winning actress insists she’d love to appear alongside the Titanic star on the big screen, because they both successfully juggle their careers with motherhood. Winslet has two kids, Mia, 7; and Joe, 3; while Witherspoon is mum to Ava, 8; and Deacon, 4. And Witherspoon believes the pair are so alike, they’re almost “the same person”.
She says, “I had a chance recently to hang out with Kate Winslet and (Winslet’s husband) Sam Mendes. We just really get along. We’re from different countries but we’re sort of the same person. We’re the same age, we have children who are the same age. I just love Kate. I think she is just so great and I’d really love to work with her.”

Despite the very unfortunate recent events here at Glamour Reese Witherspoon, we wish you a happy Halloween and hope you’re all having tons of fun!
Pictured: Reese with Jake Gyllenhaal and Marc Jacobs at Kate Hudson’s Halloween party last Saturday.
I’ve added three videos featuring Reese at the Rome Film Festival. The Sky Life video is especially a must see. There’s a brief interview, where Reese talks about Rendition and her stunning Nina Ricci dress.
Okay, we would never normally post and ask for donations but this is an emergency. Mycah, fellow Glamour Reese Witherspoon webmaster, is in a horrible situation right now. Her house burned down earlier this week and she really needs our help. If you enjoy her work on this site and can spare anything at all, please consider donating. She is okay but her family lost their home and all possessions and they have no place to stay. You can read about the incident here. If you can help at all, Mycah’s PayPal address is email@example.com. I’m sure that any donations will be more than appreciated.
Michael Sheen will host the 16th annual BAFTA/LA Cunard Britannia Awards at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza Hotel on Nov 1.
Kathy Bates, Pierce Brosnan, Helen Fielding, Jodie Foster, Famke Janssen, Bill Nighy and Reese Witherspoon all will present awards at the event.
As previously announced, Denzel Washington will be given the Stanley Kubrick Britannia Award for Excellence in Film, and Kate Winslet will be given the Brittania Award for British Artist of the Year.
BAFTA/LA, founded in California in 1987, is meant to serve as a bridge between the American and British entertainment communities.
As promised, I’ve added the videos of Reese’s appearances on The Ellen DeGeneres Show and The Today Show. Both are good fun and Ellen especially is a must-see! Enjoy!
A lot of new visitors have been checking out Glamour Reese Witherspoon recently. We hope you enjoy the site and our many features. Please remember that this site focuses on Reese’s career, not her private life, hence we do not post gossip/trashy articles nor stalkerazzi pictures. 😉
I’ve added screencaptures from Reese’s The Ellen DeGeneres Show appearance, which aired yesterday. It was such a fun interview, Reese being her giggly and bouncy self, bringing Ellen treats once again and the talk show host returning the favor. Reese discussed Rendition, Halloween (and showed a pic of her in last year’s awesome costume!) and her work with Children’s Defense Fund. Apologies for the low quality of the caps but I wanted to get them up as soon as possible. Hopefully we’ll have better ones to replace with later.
I also added screencaps from last week’s The Today Show. I’ll try my best to add videos from both appearances tonight. Sorry about the delay, I’ve simply been insanely busy with university this week!
And last but not least, Rendition is currently #3 in the UK box office! Yay! It seems to be doing really well here. The showing that I went to was fully booked and I personally thought the film was pretty good. So don’t believe the negative reviews and go and see Rendition yourself! Reese does a great job!
Dressed in a wine red short number, Reese Witherspoon stole the spotlight at the Rendition premiere in Rome. 21 first pictures have been added from today’s event.
Reese is currently in Rome, Italy to promote Rendition alongside director Gavin Hood and co-star Jake Gyllenhaal. They attended the press conference just a few moments ago and she looks super cute! I’ve added the first images for your viewing pleasure. Read on for a reportage on what Reese, Jake and Gavin had to say about the film.
Hailing from a country where an apartheid-era state death squad operated under the name Civil Co-operation Bureau, South African film maker Gavin Hood strips away at another sinister euphemism in his latest movie Rendition.
Speaking at a news conference at the Rome Film Festival where the film screened Sunday, Hood said: “Extraordinary renditions, enhanced interrogation – these are just fancy words. We wanted to put a human face to these abstract ideas.”
Sony’s vampire horror pic 30 Days of Night won the weekend at the domestic box office with an estimated gross of $16 million from 2,855 locations, while Ben Affleck’s feature directorial debut Gone Baby Gone opened the strongest among the crowded pack of new adult dramas.
New Line’s new political drama Rendition, starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Meryl Streep and Reese Witherspoon, placed No. 9, grossing an estimated $4.2 million from 2,250 theaters for a per location average of $1,856.
DreamWorks-Paramount suffered its second box office disappointment this month with the debut of awards hopeful Things We Lost in the Fire, which couldn’t crack the top ten films of the weekend. The Halle Berry-Benicio Del Toro starrer grossed $1.6 million from 1,142 theaters for a per screen average of $1,197.
