Hollywood golden girl Reese Witherspoon graces the February issue of Marie Claire magazine. Although the images are not new, it’s the same set from Entertainment Weekly of last year (one does feature an unseen picture), it is a brand new interview! Inside the mag, the busy 31-year-old actress dishes on her upcoming flick, being a single mom and her guiltiest pleasures, but remains mum when it comes to her blossoming relationship with Jake Gyllenhaal. I will be on the hunt for this magazine, and as soon as I obtain a copy scans will be made!
Reese on working with Vince Vaughn: “I’ve been a big fan of his for so many years. Vince is one of the only actors working today who makes me laugh in every movie I see him in. Working with him has been a great experience for me, a real exercise in always staying on my toes comedically. I laugh every day at work!”
Reese on her guiltiest pleasure: “Games shows like the new Crosswords and Deal or No Deal. And Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? is very popular in my house.”
Reese on juggling work and family: “I think, like every working parent, I sometimes feel that there are not enough hours in the day. But overall, I’m very fortunate that my job has a lot of flexibility. I spend a lot of time with the kids, just around the house. They’re still pretty young, so I feel like what I can mostly do is listen to them and be there for them.”
Reese is also on the cover of Glamour UK, with the shoot from Glamour US of last year, Riikka will bring you original scans of this later this week!
Good job fans – Reese was named Favorite Female Movie Star yesterday at the People’s Choice Awards! It was announced in a televised program that was drastically altered due to the Hollywood writers strike. Instead of receiving their statuettes to great applause during a traditional awards ceremony, the recipients taped acceptance speeches for a canned broadcast that aired on CBS.
Reuters reports that:
The event’s organizers were forced to change their plans last month because the Writers Guild of America is refusing to allow many awards shows to hire union writers and actors are not crossing the writers’ picket lines.
Depp and Witherspoon were named favorite male and female movie star. Neither was cited for any particular film, though Depp was in theaters last year with Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End, which won two other awards. Witherspoon appeared in only one movie, the box office bomb Rendition.
Update: Here is a quick snipet of Reese’s pre-recorded speach.
We are nothing without our writers. But we are also nothing without our audience.
If anyone managed to catch Reese’s speech, please consider sending it in!
There are two pieces of news today, one very exciting!
The first being that Reese is rumoured to produce and star in an adaptation of the Jen Sacks novel Nice. Here is what joblo.com had to say about it:
This chick is just too nice and can’t seem to break up with her boyfriends. So, trying out something new, she decides to kill one particular boyfriend. And finding that she gets away with it (it’s mistaken for a gay suicide), she decides to do it again. And again.
Sounds pretty exciting, hey?
The second piece of news is that Reese has topped a recent list as the most liked celebrity among ten women who regularly found their way onto magazine covers and into gossip columns in 2007. People aged 13 and over (over 1000 of them!) were asked this question and Reese topped the list with a personal appeal rating of 74 percent, followed by former Friends TV star Jennifer Aniston at 70 percent. Way to go Reese!
Reese has been named one of Entertainment Weekly‘s best dressed star of 2007 (December 28th, Best and Worst of 2007 issue)! Way to go Reese! Here is what EW had to say:
What a way to kick off the year, Reese Witherspoon! The newly single star set the style bar high with her Golden Globes appearance (pictures). The canary yellow gown also marked the first in a series of Nina Riccis — designed by style wunderkind Olivier Theyskens — that Witherspoon would parade across the red carpet, including the glittering gray number from the SAG Awards (pictures). Throughout the year, Witherspoon understood the virtue of keeping it simple, skipping the wreaths and chandeliers in favor of flattering necklines and a dazzling smile.

As Riikka is heading out of the country for the holidays, and I’m experiencing technical problems and celebrating with my family as well, Glamour Reese Witherspoon will likely not be updated until early January – unless there will be major news to post. We will not be coming online much and will be unable to reply to any emails or approve comments until January.
Happy holidays, Merry Christmas and fabulous New Year 2008 to all of our visitors! We really love working on the site and appreciate your support a lot. We can’t wait to see what 2008 will bring to Reese – and you can be sure that we’ll be here to cover it every step of the way.
Compiled by the Glamour Reese Witherspoon staff. Please feel free to post your own choices here or at the forum.
Both agree: The release of Rendition and all of the great media coverage it got.
Both agree: The delays of Penelope.
Jon Favreau and country music stars Tim McGraw and Dwight Yoakam are hoppin’ in the saddle with Reese Witherspoon and Vince Vaughn for New Line Cinema’s romantic comedy Four Christmases.
Favreau and McGraw will play Dallas and Denver, respectively, two bullying siblings who delight in tormenting their brother, Brad (Vaughn), during the holidays.
Yoakam will play Pastor Phil, the overly zealous partner of Brad’s new wife Kate’s (Witherspoon) mother (Mary Steenburgen). He persuades the young couple to act in his church’s nativity play, one of many chaotic events during their visits to different sets of parents.
Sissy Spacek and Mary Steenburgen are joining Reese Witherspoon and Vince Vaughn for a season of holiday havoc in Four Christmases.
Kristin Chenoweth and Robert Duvall also star in the New Line romantic comedy, which is slated for release next year.
The story revolves around a newly married couple (Witherspoon and Vaughn) who decide to brave visits to all sets of their parents for the Christmas holiday — despite the scars each has from being raised in broken homes.
According to Variety, Reese Witherspoon has been approached to play Amelia Earhart in Night at the Museum 2: Escape from the Smithsonian.
According to the report, Fox has moved the sequel’s release date to May 22nd, 2009, switching places with James Cameron’s Avatar, which will now open December 18th, 2009 — the same weekend that Cameron’s Titanic did in 1997. The move was made in an effort to give Cameron more time for post-production.
The screenplay for Smithsonian was written by Robert Ben Garant and Thomas Lennon who also wrote Night at the Museum. Scott Frank did a rewrite. The sequel will be the first major Hollywood movie shot at the museum complex in Washington, DC. Shawn Levy will return to direct and Ben Stiller will return to star. The original movie, released last Christmas, grossed $252 million domestically and another $323 million overseas.
While Night at the Museum was a cute and fun film, I personally think that Reese deserves better than a sequel. I assume Earhart would be one of the historical figures come to life at night so it would be a supporting role for Reese, not even a starring one.
Here’s some information about Amelia Earhart, whom Reese would portray. Whatever I may personally think of her starring in this movie, I still think Amelia is a very fascinating character.
Amelia Mary Earhart (24 July 1897 – missing 2 July 1937, declared deceased 5 January 1939) was a noted American aviation pioneer, author and women’s rights advocate. Earhart was the first woman to receive the Distinguished Flying Cross, which she was awarded as the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean. She set many other records, wrote best-selling books about her flying experiences, and was instrumental in the formation of The Ninety-Nines, an organization for women pilots.
Reese and Vince were again photographed on the set of Four Christmases yesterday in San Francisco. Reese wore a pretty colorful dress, a large hat and kept warm in a light grey trench coat.
